A Windows HDR Calibration app is headed to the Microsoft Store

Xbox has the Xbox HDR Game Calibration app to help displays and games play prissy with each other when it comes to attuning for high dynamic range (HDR). Windows doesn't have such an app, meaning especially light and dark parts of your screen tin lose vital visual details due to HDR discrepancies.

To ready that upshot, Microsoft has announced that Windows will be receiving its own HDR Calibration app. Soon, color consistency and accuracy issues will be a thing of the by on your PC's display. The only mysteries are whether information technology'll come to Windows xi and Windows 10 as well as when the app will actually arrive. There'southward no date for it yet, but in the announcement blog mail service, Microsoft notes that Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel have already seen a teaser for its arrival.

"If you are on the Windows Insiders Dev channel, you may have noticed a new section 'HDR display scale' under System > Brandish > HDR settings," the blog reads, illustrating where the app will reside in the time to come. Until then, going to that destination volition just lead y'all to the aforementioned mail service stating that the app is on its way. Expect the app to characteristic three testing patterns:
